Mauro Martelossi

Brief Background

  • Academic Member of Italian National Academy of the Olive Tree and Olive Oil;
  • qualified Panel Supervisor (IOOC-EEC) and instructor for organoleptic aspects and quality control systems for the food and olive oil industry;
  • specialist in sensory analysis and physiological suitability for olive oil tasting and is accredited with the Italian Ministry of Agriculture (Decr.1597/00);
  • founder of IRVEA - Istituto per la Ricerca e la Valorizzazione delle Eccellenze Agroalimentari e Ambientali (Research Institute for Development and Enhancement of Agri-food and Enviromental of Excellence).

He has extensive experience in food and criminal law, with particular reference to food quality inspections and the fight against food fraud, adulteration and counterfeiting food products;

he has collaborated and he continues to collaborate in didactical activities and scientific research with universities and government institutions from various countries.

He established and he continues to direct

  • ARMONIA - International Olive Oil Competition in 2006;
  • ARMONIA in the KITCHEN - International Culinary Competition since 2008;
  • the OLEUM SAPIENS program for training young chefs and students in cooking schools in Italy and other countries.
